What is Wellos Meals?

Wellos Meals is a free tool designed with your wellness journey and weight loss targets in mind. Offering a catalog of over 5,000 handpicked nutritious recipes, Meals is tailored to your personal nutritional needs. It empowers your wellness journey through flavorful meal recommendations and automatically adjusts to your preferences.

How do I get to the meals?

Meals will always be available in the Tools section: select the Tools icon on the bottom navigation bar, then look for the Meals tile at the top of the page to get started!

How does Wellos Meals personalize the recipes for me?

To activate meals, we’ll ask you a few questions about your dietary preferences - these questions allow us to automatically substitute certain ingredients and make the recipes fit you better. For example, if you’re gluten-free, we’ll automatically substitute gluten-free ingredient options within the recipes where possible. The recipe nutrition facts adjust based on these substitutions, giving you an accurate picture of what you’re eating.

You can view all our recipes through the Meal Search page, so your preference settings won’t prevent you from exploring meals outside of your dietary pattern. You can use the filter options to see only meals that fit a specific dietary pattern or preference.

How do I change my meal settings and preferences?

You can update your preferences any time in your Profile: from the home page, click your initials in the top right corner. Scroll down under “My Account” to “Dietary Preferences” and select the preferences you’d like to change.

Where do the recipes come from/Who creates the recipes?

Our meal database was developed over years of recipe creation by our team of chefs and registered dietitians. Our recipes have been hand-picked, chef-tested, and dietitian-approved. We continue to add new recipes and review older ones that may need an update, so you’ll see the menu change occasionally.

Can I track a recipe in my nutrition tracker?

This feature is coming soon! We’re just working out some kinks to ensure it’s as smooth and easy as possible.

Does Wellos have meal planning? Can I make a meal plan?

We are currently working to build smart, automated meal-planning tools that will make it easy for you to create weekly menus and plan your meals in advance. More coming soon!

Can I rate the recipes? Where do the ratings come from?

Yes! Here's how to rate & review a Wellos recipe. The recipe ratings you see are from real people who actually cooked the recipes and gave us honest feedback about how it went.

How can I search for the meal that I want?

From the meals page, select the Search tab at the top.

The search screen will show some popular quick filters you can use to explore different categories.

You can use the search bar to enter keywords and search our recipe titles.

Select the “Filters” button to filter search results further: filters include meal type, prep and cook time, dietary preferences, cuisines, dish type, and appliances needed.

I’m not seeing any results when I search:

  • First, check your filters. You may have to remove some filters and broaden your search to see more results.

  • Search using single words: our search scans all recipe titles for the words you enter, so simpler entries will show more results. Instead of “Classic chicken noodle soup,” try “chicken soup” for better results.

  • To clear all filters and search entries, click the “Cancel” button to restart your search.

Dietary Preferences - what do they mean?

At Wellos, we avoid fad diets and stick to the science. Our dietary preferences and patterns follow standardized guidelines and definitions:

  • Low-carb meals are moderate carbohydrate options and provide meals that are under 50g net carbs per meal.

  • Paleo meals exclude all grains and legumes (like beans and peanuts) and substitute Paleo-friendly ingredient options where possible.

  • Mediterranean meals minimize saturated fat (less than 10% of calories from saturated fat) and focus on heart-healthy fats like olive oil, seafood, and nuts.

  • No Red Meat meals exclude beef, pork, and lamb.

  • Pescatarian meals exclude beef, pork, lamb, and poultry.

  • Flexitarian meals limit meat and seafood. We strive for a mix of mostly vegetarian meals, but your other preferences will determine the total number of vegetarian meals available.

  • Vegetarian meals exclude meat and seafood, while still including eggs and dairy products.

  • Vegan meals exclude all animal products (meat, seafood, eggs, dairy, honey).

  • Whole-food diet meals focus on whole ingredients, like unprocessed proteins and vegetables. This preference excludes refined sugar and pre-prepared ingredients, like hummus or pesto.

  • Gluten-free meals exclude products commonly containing gluten and make gluten-free substitutes for widely available products. (We recommend checking the label of all products if you have a gluten allergy, as some brands may be made in a facility that is not certified gluten-free.)

  • Dairy-free meals exclude products commonly containing dairy and make dairy-free substitutes for widely available products.

  • Kosher meals exclude non-kosher foods like shellfish and pork and do not combine dairy and meat. We recommend checking the label of all products, as some brands are not certified Kosher.

  • Low sodium meals are designed to keep sodium under 1,500 mg per day. We automatically substitute low sodium ingredients wherever possible.

What are Batch meals?

Batch meals are recipes with multiple servings that can be easily refrigerated or frozen to enjoy throughout the week for lunch or dinner. They are meant to be made ahead and portioned for easy meal prep.

Can I leave a private note on a recipe for the next time I cook it?
